His will: Bequests to his niece Mary Grey of 100 pounds, to his niece Sarah Douglas 1 pound 5 shillings paid 4 times per year during her life and 100 pounds to be divided among her heirs at age 21, to his niece Elizabeth Carleton 100 pounds, to his niece Isabella Carleton 100 pounds, "to Josiah Harrison... all that messuage or tenement that I am possessed of at Hunsonby... all the rest of my effects whether lands mortgages or any other commodities ... to my nephew Samuel Carleton ... to the poor of the parish of Langwathby 20 pounds..."
